Grant Robbins | Principal

Grant founded Robbins|Reed in 2007 and his enthusiasm for connecting with people is real. Grant started framing houses as a high school student. Twenty-five years later his collective construction expertise allows us to develop solutions to complex challenges. Grant ensures the business is engaged with the local community as a member of the SLO Chamber of Commerce. A self-proclaimed “construction nerd”, he can’t help but smile stepping onto a job site. Lucky for us, Grant just might be the sharpest tool in our shed.

Shawn Reed | Principal

Shawn built Robbins|Reed team from the ground up. Twenty-six years in the field make him a veteran leader in construction management. A perfectionist with passion for the craft, he’s proud our team conducts business with integrity. Shawn leads Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo and serves on the Construction Management Advisory Council at Cal Poly. He also participates in the community as a board member of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast. Collaborators describe him as hard working and down to earth, with a great sense of humor. His ability to manage multiple disciplines is well respected by colleagues and clients. Shawn appreciates any excuse to adventure outdoors.

 
 

Aaryn Abbott | Vice President

Aaryn is an avid trail runner who appreciates local craft beer and BBQ. He joined Robbins|Reed in 2010. Today, he’s an owner whose expertise of complex construction operations, finance and legal matters are respected among the team. A Cal Poly alum, he earned a Masters of Real Estate Development degree at USC before becoming a licensed California Real Estate Broker. As a dynamic member of the SLO Association of Realtors, Aaryn is driven to make housing more accessible and sustainable here on the Central Coast.

Ryan Adams | Custom Homes Director

Ryan is our industrious boy scout. It’s a stretch to come up with anything cynical about this guy. A NAUI master diver, he served as a Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers after studying Construction Management at Cal Poly and earning his Class B General Contractor’s License. Today Ryan builds our custom homes, transforming homeowners’ dreams into reality. His approachable personality and ambition to succeed keep our clients happy. Ryan connects with our community as an active member of the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce and serves on the council of North County Young Professionals. A true trailblazer, he’s the guide you want.

 
 

Adam Strauss | Superintendent

Adam’s drive takes us to great heights. He’s proud of the solid working relationships he’s built with local owners, architects, engineers and vendors over the past two decades in construction management. Clients value Adam’s understanding of both large commercial and residential developments. He thrives in fast paced environments. Good luck trying to peel him off his mountain bike on the weekend. Favorite projects all happen to be located in wine country, including Vina Robles, Niner Wine Estates and Law Family Winery.

Ted Darby | Construction Manager

Ted has been at Robbins|Reed since the beginning. Raised in a developer family, he started working construction as a high school student before serving in the Navy as a Deep Sea Diver. Ted’s exceptional experience allows him to execute projects with precision and keep calm under pressure. In his extensive experience he has proven to be loyal and knowledgeable. He is passionate about training team members to build the highest quality homes through proven practices. Ted is an avid motorcyclist and self-described “Sherpa” for his wife’s photography hobby.

 
 

Steve Griggs | Construction Manager

Steve is determined and thrives when faced with a challenge. Seventeen years in the construction industry and six years with Robbins|Reed add up to valuable leadership experience. He appreciates that everyday in the field is different. Colleagues and friends alike admire his passion for building. Steve’s optimistic attitude serves him well whether he is diving into a new project or traversing the globe.

Scott Merson | Project Engineer

Scott is a natural problem solver. He is quick to provide answers and happy to interact with clients and subcontractors alike. After graduating from Cal Poly with a degree in Construction Management, he quickly made his mark as a successful project manager. Today, Scott is the go-to guy for creative solutions. Robbins|Reed relies on his positive energy and dependability.

Scott is a true jack-of-all-trades. He is a licensed General Contractor with twenty-five years in the field whose valuable experience includes serving as a Planning Commissioner. His expertise covers land development from entitlement to engineering and construction. Scott is a motivated problem solver whose proactive approach to each project sets the tone for the team.

Gil Bastidas | Construction Manager

Gil joined Robbins|Reed in 2012 after serving as a student intern for two years. Building homes began as a childhood dream. Today, his determined work ethic and ability to speak Spanish make him a valuable member of the team. A Cal Poly graduate, he is a master at multitasking and appreciates confronting new challenges. Anyone who knows Gil will share how friendly and hard working he is. He most values family and makes time to play with his children everyday.

 
 

Mike Walker | Field Manager

Mike appreciates the SLO life. Over two decades in the field separate him from the pack. Colleagues define Mike as a meticulous man who values getting the job done right on time. He simply won’t stop until a client is satisfied. Respected and approachable, Mike is admired by the entire team. Mike is happiest working out in the yard, listening to music or camping with his wife.

Avery Kintner | Controller

Avery brings over thirty years of financial expertise to Robbins|Reed along with a passion for community service. After earning a Business degree with an Accounting Emphasis from Southern Methodist University he became a Certified Public Accountant. Avery’s special certifications include Green Building Professional and Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB) FSA-Level 1. He appreciates staying active by swimming and practicing yoga. Avery’s ability to think strategically and willingness to collaborate make him a valuable addition to the team while his experience in risk management keeps us prepared for the future.

 
 

Tayler Simpson | Management Consultant

To say Tayler loves hockey is an understatement — he’s Canadian after all. His experience in the construction industry spans nearly a decade. Tayler earned a Masters of Real Estate Development from the University of Maryland after graduating from Niagra University with a degree in Finance and Economics. His ability to listen makes him a standout partner to work with. Tayler trusts his instincts and embraces new challenges. He thrives on creating value-add strategies to demanding projects and builds on success.

Mary Power-Hall | Business Systems Manager

Mary is a communicator who understands the construction process start to finish. Her role includes leading new programs and troubleshooting existing processes. Mary’s knowledge of system organization in the commercial, solar, and high-end custom housing markets make her expertise essential. Her favorite aspect of the job is keeping up to date with technological tools to support the team. Personal pursuits include kayaking, backpacking and singing along with her guitar.

 
 

Matt Reddell | Accounting Administrator

Matt’s days are numbered. He literally counts everything from calories and baseball runs to suave salsa steps. His optimistic attitude and enthusiasm for solving complicated puzzles provide our team with clarity and direction. His passion for determining how Robbins|Reed projects fit together on an accounting level makes what we do possible. He’s detail oriented with an eye for accuracy. Matt walks several miles to and from the office everyday. We respect his dedication to healthy living much more than his affinity for the Fast & Furious films.

Jennifer Krivinko | Realtor

Jennifer is a life long local and respected real estate agent in SLO County. She has been with Robbins|Reed for five years and loves helping people find a home to create lasting memories in. Jennifer is outgoing and organized. Her sophisticated problem solving skills and sharp eye for detail are valuable assets to our team. Adrian is a multidimensional problem solver who can grow just about anything. Dual degrees in Architecture and Construction Management from Cal Poly give him the insights to understand how a project will best come together. He’s all about logistics. The team trusts him to get them the information they need to succeed. He appreciates design and loves to garden when he isn’t kayaking or experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen. He’s been with Robbins|Reed for two years and is OSHA 10 certified. Adrian lives in Portland, Oregon.

Shannen Fletcher | Office Manager

Shannen is tenacious, she’s got to be to put up with our crew. For three years she has kept our active office running with no-nonsense wit. She devours books, bakes and regularly treks to San Francisco and Los Angeles for live music. Shannen never forgets a name or a face. In the office she monitors complex project plans while coordinating momentous events essential to keeping our team on track – including Beer Fridays.
